Chickweed Stellaria media 

Chickweed's botanical name Stellaria comes from the word 'stellar' meaning star, in reference to the shape of its flowers. Chickweed has a long history of traditional use as a cooling anti-pruritic to soothe hot itchy skin. One of the best remedies available in the treatment of symptoms associated with eczema and dermatitis such as inflammation and itching. The cooling affect of this herb is also helpful in soothing minor burns and insect bites.

Poroporo Solanum laciniatum

A NZ native herb, traditionally used as a healing, anti-inflammatory remedy for skin conditions such as eczema. The constituent believed to be responsible for the healing activity of this plant is the steroidal saponin solasonine. Steroidal saponins have a close structural relationship to steroid hormones produced by the body (eg. the anti-inflammatory steroid cortisol). Solasonine, is used commercially as a precursor for the production of complex steroidal compounds in Europe, and is believed to either interact directly with steroid receptors on the outside of cells, or act as a precursor for the body’s own production of anti-inflammatory steroid hormones within the body (ie. the body manufactures its steroid hormones from these substances). - Kiwiherb, Phytomed

Aloe Vera Aloe barbadensis

Aloe gel is traditionally used for its soothing and emollient properties. Known to calm irritated and inflamed skin, the cooling effect of aloe also has an invigorating and refreshing effect. Gels are quickly absorbed and support the absorption of other ingredients deeper into the skin.

Suitable for Sensitive, inflamed and itchy skin.

THE RITUAL Simply apply to the area of hot, itchy or irritated skin 2-3 times a day, or every hour for greater cooling and soothing relief. Keep refrigerated and apply cold for extra relief.

Ingredients Extract of Chickweed (Stellaria media) and Poroporo (Solanum laciniatum), Pure Essential Oils of Chamomile* (Matricaria recutita) and Mānuka* (Leptospermum scoparium) in a natural aloe gel base (water, glycerin, carbomer, Aloe barbadensis leaf extract, Phenoxyethanol & ethylhexylglycerin and Aminomethyl propanol).
